INDUSTRIAL INTERIOR

Reservoir lamp atlas photoshoot.jpg

RESERVIOR LAMP

The reservoir lamp is a scaled down piece of industrial architecture. Based on the petroleum storage containers seen along I-80 between Detroit and Chicago. A combination standing lamp and side table, the reservoir lamp is ideal for the living room and bedroom.

The large silvered bulb protects the viewer from looking directly into the LED and the throws the light down and around the area below it, illuminating an open book or computer. The cast concrete shelf rests on the black patinated steel frame and acts as a shelf for objects, books and drinks.

SUPERSTRUCTURE

In my work, I use the language of the industrial exterior to begin constructing a new interior. “To design is to be concerned with the infrastructure of everyday life- to be concerned with the infrastructure of the human spirt.”- Ettore Sottsass This new industrial interior reflects the beautiful and sometimes brutal landscape that we as humans have constructed for ourselves.
